If I want to get into my uncle’s Life Insurance Business should I become an Actuary?

Posted on July 24th, 2011 in small business management software by

He has been flat out clear he will not provide relatives with jobs unless they go to school. Should I become an Actuary?

The one thing I fear is that the job seems kind of boring but it pays well. Check out this careercritique review:

“I am a P&C worker with 6 months experience. As a student I had a strong grasp of what actuaries do, but never really had a clue what their work life is like from day to day. So here it is, at least from my limited experience:

We are assigned different states. We are given a ton of data that represents premium trends, loss trends, industry trends, and these are called our indications. Then we make certain predictions and recommendations, but we are kept on a short leash; the software does most of the heavy lifting, and we make small judgment calls. We check each others work. Then meetings are conducted, and these gradually become more formal until the final meeting is with upper management/executive level. After all this work, a consensus is arrived at – a set of new rates.

All of this involves reading and compiling reports, checking others work at meetings, and implementation. Some computer skills are needed to…..Access, Excel, other MS Office programs

Cant say its very glamarous but I like it. You will too, if the work style and subject matter fits your personality. ”

Is there a good visual media management software for windows like itunes but with video, too?

Posted on July 21st, 2011 in management software by

It is a very long question I know.
I like iTunes because I can see the big album covers and I can go into details and see the mp3 data.

But I don’t like iTunes because it is not the best for windows, it doesn’t support many formats (like avi), and it has got no skins…

Can you help me find a good software for me?

I’ve tried JetAudio and I didn’t like it…

Is this a good computer?

Posted on July 21st, 2011 in document management software by

I’ve been looking for a good desktop with a reasonable price. I found this one on Dell’s website. I don’t find anything wrong with it, personally, but I don’t know exactly what I should look for either. I need the computer to basic stuff like hold pictures, and music. so I want to have plenty of room. I’m also a fan of sims and it must be able to play sims3.. according to the system requirements, I think it should be able to but I’m still not positive. I could really use some help/comments. Thanks :-)

Please help me with this case study.?

Posted on July 15th, 2011 in small business management software by

Gem Infosys a small software company has decided to better secure their computer systems after a malware attack shut down their network operations for two full days. The organization uses a firewall, three file servers, two web servers, one Windows 2008 Active Directory server for user access and authentication, ten PCs and a broadband connection to the Internet. The management at Gem needs you to formulate an incident response policy to reduce network down-time if future incidents occur. Develop an incident response policy that covers the development of incident response team, disaster recovery process and business continuity planning.
Yes, that’s one way to look at the meaning of case study. A case study is where you analyze a situation and give a solution “The case should have enough information in it that can understand what the problem is and, after thinking about it and analyzing the information, the readers should be able to come up with a proposed solution.”

Ever thought that this is an example case study to be answered? I’m trying to answer different exercises in this book to review myself for the upcoming finals and it says “case study” so don’t blame me if you want a real “case study.”

The question, can anyone help throw in more ideas to find a solution? “Develop an incident response policy that covers the development of incident response team, disaster recovery process and business continuity planning.”
