Are there any good free contact management software programs out there?

Posted on September 30th, 2010 in small business management software by

Greetings everyone,

I’ve recently started a small business and want to be able to keep track of contacts and when I’ve communicated with them. ACT seems to be the big player in this category, but I was wanting to explore the free programs out there before shelling out any money.

Can anyone suggest a freeware program with ACT’s features? Ideally, it should be a standalone application, but web-based suggestions are also welcome.

Thanks!

-Sales & marketing deparment
-Distribution divisoon
-Point of sales outlets
-Procurement and purchasing
-Finance and acc.

However, depsite the success of the company, the current information system uses tend to be distinct in the sense that, each department has their own procedure and using their own stand-alone system, and there are not linked thereby, presenting a lot of problem to the overall organization in terms of:
1. Tracking all of the status of the various processes
2. Repetition of work, such as re-keying of data
3. Production of financial reports tend to be slow as a lot of time is
spent chasing after updated data from the various departments.

With the aooroval of top management, you decided to embark on re-structuring
the overall company’s software information system, as the management had agreed with you that by doing so, the efficiency and productivity of the company may be improved.

Hence, your immediate task now is to perform a quick survey and propose the kind of software system that tou think will be most appropriate.

of Operations: Executive Summary We design and deliver the systems, software and services that drive next-generation communications networks. Backed by Bell Labs research and development, we use our strengths in mobility, optical, access, data and voice networking technologies, as well as
services, to create new revenue-generating opportunities for our customers, while enabling them to quickly deploy and better
manage their networks. Our customer base includes communications service providers, governments and enterprises worldwide.
We have three segments organized around the products and services we sell. The reportable segments are Integrated Network
Solutions (“INS”), Mobility Solutions (“Mobility”) and Lucent Worldwide Services (“Services”). INS provides a broad range of software and wireline equipment related to voice networking (primarily consisting
of switching products, which we sometimes refer to as convergence solutions, and voice messaging products), data and network
management (primarily consisting of access and related data networking equipment and operating support software) and optical
networking. Mobility provides software and wireless equipment to support radio access and core networks. Services provides deployment, maintenance, professional and managed
services in support of both our product offerings as well as multi-vendor networks. Beginning in fiscal 2001, the global telecommunications market deteriorated, resulting from a decrease in the competitive
local exchange carrier market and a significant reduction in capital spending by established service providers. This trend intensified
during fiscal 2002 and continued into fiscal 2003. Reasons for the market deterioration included general economic slowdown, network
overcapacity, customer bankruptcies, network build-out delays and limited availability of capital. We believe that the market for telecommunications equipment has stabilized and is starting to grow in certain areas. The growing demands of enterprises and consumers
for additional services tailored to their needs is creating the need for a new convergence of networks, technologies and applications.

Inventory Management-Crucial Factor of Business Growth

Posted on September 30th, 2010 in inventory management software by

Before studying inventory management one should know what the word inventory means. The word inventory is derived from a French term ‘inventaire’ which means a detailed list if goods. Inventory can be assumed to be a list of materials and goods that are made to be available in a stock by any business. Inventory is not limited to a business only; this term also denotes a list of contents of any household for testamentary purposes of a dead person’s possessions. In accounting the word inventory means an asset.

Inventory management involves the controlling of assets that are being produced for sale keeping intact the normalcy of the company’s day to day operations. Minimizing the total direct and indirect cost is the primary goal of the inventory management. However, the extent of investment is the main criteria upon which the importance of inventory management actually depends.

It is found that it is highly complex when inventory management is implemented to manufacturing environments, but inventory management has always the fundamental principles on its side. Inventory management and planning must always respond to the requirements of the firm or the individual concerned. The organization should design appropriate systems that can help it to make proper decisions and generate the regular business reports.

To manage the inventory one requires the inventory management software that can assist your organization to manage the inventory accurately, reduce holding, FIFO control and to trace the items in detail. The inventory management software is basically a Warehouse Management System (WMS) and it comprises barcode labeling and detail Bin Management with scanning capability. It helps the storekeepers to pick & put their stocks in a more accurate and efficient manner.

The Benefits of Enterprise Asset Management Software

Posted on September 30th, 2010 in enterprise management software by

For any industry that banks on the functionality of its assets, having them in proper working condition is primarily important. The term ‘industry’ is used collectively in this case to refer to a large enterprise that could be anything from a manufacturing company to a hospital. The workings of any and all equipment is expected to be flawless with every rising sun, and to achieve that, a little technological help is needed. It’s an aid called Enterprise Asset Management. Sometimes referred to as computerized asset management, enterprise asset management is a necessity when it comes to reducing the costs of asset ownership.

Software companies invest in making Enterprise Asset Management software for the simple reason that it is more effective than manual management. Keeping track of asset health is something that is best done using software since any abnormalities indicating deteriorating asset health are quickly and timely noted. It is this keeping of equipment in good running condition that ensures their reliability and safety- key factors in any facility. EAM software is what you would term as having a broad spectrum- the nature of its development means it can be used across departments, facilities and even locations. Between locations means shifting the network to an online platform to bridge the geographical gap that is created.

With the emphasis made on asset management, one would be tempted to think that EAM Software is limited to the aforementioned function. But truth is it does a lot more than that. Expectations banked on a CMMS system stretch far beyond the operations surrounding asset management. But the maintenance aspect is the most desired one. Subsidiary functions include risk management, strategic planning, creating work orders to better the efficiency and productivity of your staff.

The nature of business is really dynamic to say the least. This, in other words, means that growth is expected as the business covers and conquers new territory. It is the CMMS software that assumes the responsibility of better work scheduling, better allocation of resources, and improved financial planning to ensure that the new costs of business are met in the most intuitive way. Proper monitoring of assets is crucial at this point, since an increased work orders would mean demand for more output, and this is a likely trigger for a breakdown. Then again, there is the Maintenance Management Software to pick up on any irregularities so they can be addressed immediately.

The availability of EAM software has really changed the costs of doing business, and in a good way. Granted, the investment made on acquiring a CMMS system from a vendor, especially one meant for a large corporation or company, is a huge one indeed, but it is worth it. Over time, it does get to save you millions that you could have spent in replacing equipment because of a fault that went unnoticed.

And as far as vendors go, you can rely on Ashcom Technologies to give you not only the best EAM software that you could imagine, but exemplary customer service as well.

Ashcom Technologies provides knowledge-based business solutions to clients through a multitude of strategies and tools. In the process, clients receive a sustainable competitive advantage through the implementation of proactive strategies and technologies. Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) plays a large role in this process.
